Lumps and Covid

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. About a year ago I found a little pea sized lump in my left breast, I went to the my GP and she didnt appear at all concerned, I'm 22 and had a baby in 2019 and he was exclusively breastfed for 6 months and I still feed him now, anyway, she felt the lump and said she would refer me to the breast clinic however its taken a whole year, it's gotten smaller and hadn't been bothering me but now that I've got a date for my appointment, I'm literally the most anxious I've ever been. Constantly feeling the lump, convinced its cancer, googling everything. How did you all cope with the wait for your appointment? I'm really struggling and the thought that it's been left for a whole year is making me feel worse. Sorry for the long winded post! X

  • Hello Kaha03

I'm sorry to hear that you're anxious ahead of your upcoming breast clinic appointment. I've just replied to [@RW_89]‍ on another thread who finds herself in a similar situation.

It sounds positive that your GP wasn't concerned about the lump and that it's gotten smaller over the past year. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious, particularly with having had such a very long wait to be seen at the clinic. Try to keep in mind that the large majority of women who attend breast clinic are not diagnosed with cancer.

It can help to talk t things through and if you'd like to have a chat with one of our team of nurses you're most welcome to call them. they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
