Still no results from scans for neck lump

Last December I started getting really sick and at the same time all the lymph nodes in my body fared up and eventually went down apart from one in my neck which was a hard lump and kept growing. I was sick for months with what seemed like typical lymphoma symptoms, rashes, nausea, night sweats and chest pains so bad I couldn't sleep on one side and a chest pain that spread to my left arm. I was referred to my gp to have an urgent ultrasound and ct scan. It took months to get the appointments and the last one was an ultrasound in march where the technician scanned my neck with the hard lump and said it looked normal which I was kind of confused about since there was a physical hard lump there which my doctor noticed too but refused a biopsy.

Since then I have heard nothing and had no results back, if I call to ask what is going on they just say it'll be another few weeks or sometimes just not answer the phone or pick it up and put it back down again (im not incessantly calling every hour, just once a week). I also tried contacting pals but their inbox was full. I have no idea what to do, the hard lump was still there and I was so sick it felt like I was dying for months and I had to change degrees because i couldn't even take care of myself and had to move back home, some days a few of the symptoms come back. Someone please help I don't know what else to do and I don't want to suddenly get seriously ill again

  • Hello Stellajay123

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some ongoing health issues and as yet have had no results from your scan.

From your post, it sounds as if you're worried about more than just the lump that you've had scanned. We'd encourage you to make an appointment to speak with your GP about all the symptoms that you've been worried about as they will be best placed to support you.

I do hope that you have some answers soon and that things improve for you.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Jenn,

I have been to my gp to try and get them to help contact the hospital and they faced the same wall as me- the hospital will not answer the phone, will not answer voicemails, every other nurse is on leave and when one comes back another leaves so they just end up being transferred infinitely. It is impossible to get them to respond or pick up the phone, my doctors and I have no idea what to do. It has been 5 months and I had all these symptoms of lymphoma and the lump seems to be now changing or getting bigger. I have no idea what to do. It feels like I'm just supposed to accept the fact that I could possibly die from this if it's never treated or constantly live under the fear of having cancer, it's almost unbearable.

  • Hello Stellajay123

I'm sorry to hear that you've still not had any results and that your GP has also been unable to get any information.

You may want to consider getting in touch with your local PALS office to see if they can help. Alternatively, there is some information here about how to make a complaint.

I do hope that you have some answers soon.

    Best wishes,
