My father had his biopsy last Tuesday. I received a emailed letter today for a telephone appointment for next Wednesday stating to discuss your condition. Does anyone know if the hospital would give bad news over the telephone?
many thanks

Hello Finn1707
I'm sorry to hear that your dad is waiting on some biopsy results at the moment. It's understandable that you may all be feeling a little anxious about next week's appointment.
Prior to Covid19, it was very unusual for us to have members post to say that they had a telephone appointment with the Consultant. However, things have changed quite considerably on this point over the last year and now it is much more the norm for patients to have telephone appointments. Sometimes we have had members post to say that they have received bad news this way. However, this doesn't automatically mean that this will be the case for your Dad.
Hopefully the news next week will bring reassurance for you all. Do keep in touch and let us know how he gets on.
Best wishes,
Jenn

Thank you so much for your reply.
Hi Jack,
I can imagine how worrying this time must have been for you. If you don't mind my asking how did things get on with the appointment? Hope all is well with your dad
Thank you. The. Consultant phoned yesterday he was awful really.
He was in such a rush to get me off the phone he gave me less than 5 minutes of his time.
He started by saying I am sure you are aware it is cancer, then I asked for the scores he said so quickly right is 4+4 and left is 4+3. I asked could he repeat so I had it correct he said I have told you once and not repeating it, he said it will all be in my report in the post.
The consultant said there will be an appointment letter in the post for a bone scan. I asked from the mri does it look like it has come out and he said if bone scan is ok it would be a t2c.
Today I picked up tablets from the hospital for my dad to take for 21 days and was told by a nurse today he must have a injection between the next 7-10 days.
just so scared that mri was done over three weeks ago if anything has changed and it has come out of the prostate. Still more waiting, consultant said around two weeks before bone scan will be done and same time to wait for results.
All still a waiting game at the moment.
Thank you so much for asking.
Jackie
Hi Jackie,
I'm so sorry to hear you had such an awful experience with the consultant with what is already such a worrying time for you. Hoping and praying that all goes well with the bone scan and any further scans and that it has been caught early and not come out of the prostate! Please do keep us posted with the results if that's okay with you! Wishing you and your dad all the best!
