Waiting for a diagnosis

Hello everyone

Since I presented symptoms of earache, facial numbness, tinnitus, throat sore and neck node swelling for a few months I went through an ear, head and neck RMI and RMA as expected. My concern comes when I was called for a Thorax CT this morning without previous explanation. Could it be because the doctors saw any sign of lung cancer? My grandpa died from lung cancer and I used to be a smoker... I didn't have any explanation as I'm still waiting for an appointment to show the results about it and I'm really worried. Has anyone had a similar experience?

I would really appreciate your answer

  • Hello Fulgen,

A warm welcome to our forum! Unfortunately it is really hard to tell why you may have been called for a thorax CT scan this morning - the experts will be able to tell you more about this but don't assume this necessarily means that the doctors saw any sign of lung cancer. There could be so many other possible explanations for this.

Waiting for results can be such a stressful experience and many people on our forum will relate to how you are feeling at the moment. There are helful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for these important results.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
