Breast issues

Four weeks ago my left nipple started to itch like crazy. Within days it was covered in patchy dry skin however sores were weeping even though I had never scratched it. Spoke to my doctor (no face to face appointment) who gave me antibiotics and a hydrocortisone cream and told to call back for an examination if persisted. Used the cream for 2 weeks but made no difference so on Friday 11th June I called back and was seen at 4pm. I also found a small lump on my right breast that morning so mentioned that too at my appointment. The doctor referred me to breast clinic for the lump and gave me a new cream to try for the nipple on the left. The hospital have just called me and are seeing me tomorrow night. I have had cysts appearing in my right breast for the last 4 years so I wasn't overly concerned but now I am as the appointment is so quick after seeing my doctor. Has anyone else been referred as quick and it not being anything serious?

  • Hey Callie,

How did you get on at the breast clinic last night? I hope your appointment went well and they were able to put your mind at ease about your symptoms but if there is anything you forgot to ask at the time or there has been something playing on your mind since, then you're very welcome to have a chat about it with one of our cancer nurses on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of our members will share their experiences with you soon.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi thanks for asking. Fortunately it turned out to be cysts again so they dealt with them straightaway. I've got a follow up appointment for 6 weeks time to check my left breast as I've just started the new cream xx
