Ca125 levels

Hi I apparently have had raised CA125 levels over the last 2 years when my bloods have been checked regarding my underactive thyroid. I have had internal checks had MRI and CT scans all apparently clear. Now been asked to get another blood test. If levels not increased they will leave it but if they have still increased again they will refer for more investigations.  I have been told they can get raised by conditions such as fibromyalgia. I have found since having chronic sinusitis early 2020 for 3 months that as soon as I exert myself in gym or go for a run I am exhausted and in pain in all my joints and muscles all over fir several days .  If my levels are still high will mention fatigue issues etc  as that may be causing my increased CA125 levels due to inflammation. Not been told the actual CA125 levels so not sure how high they really are.

  • Hello Jojotwin

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some ongoing health problems and that recently there has been some concern about a raised CA125 level.

CA125 is produced by some ovarian cancer cells. A high level of CA125 in your blood could be a sign of ovarian cancer. But a raised CA125 level does not mean you definitely have cancer, as it can also be caused by other conditions.

It's really positive to hear that the scans that you've had so far haven't shown any cause for concern and hopefully the other upcoming tests will bring some more reassurance.

In the meantime, if you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

    Best wishes,
