Biopsy - worried

Hello, just back from an appointment with my Mam. She found a lump in her breast and was referred to urgently. Today they did examination and said "felt benign" had a mammogram, found a 1cm and 8mm lump, they did a core biopsy too then left a marker I think. The Dr said that on the Birard scale it was a 2 but possibly a 3 from radiographer. Follow up results in 7-10 days. Any ideas / advice. I've look on forum loads in past at it's been helpful. Thanks. • Hello Whitelock and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm glad to hear they think your mam's lump is benign but I'm sure the next 7 - 10 days will be an anxious time for you both until the results come through.

I'm sure some of our members who have been in a similar situation to your mam will pop by soon for a chat but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses whilst you wait, you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,

  • Hello just to say the Breast Nurse called today to say biopsy results are benign. They will take it to MDT on Monday but she rang to say that it was all clear to save us worrying over the weekend- how amazing! thanks for this wonderful group - the info is second to none. I wish anyone on their journey the best of luck - these past two - four weeks have been awful waiting for results. Take care.

  • What great news, we're so pleased for you

And that is indeed a very thoughtful thing your breast cancer nurse did. It must have been a huge weight off your shoulders.

Wishing you all the best for the future Whitelock.

    Kind regards,
