Lump in groin

Hi, during a visit to my GP, Friday before last, she found a lump in my groin that I'd first told her about in september. She was surprised that it had got to 2cm and told me to book myself an ultrasound on the following Wednesday.

I had only just arrived home when she called me and asked me to come back to have bloods taken, which I did.

A different dr called me yesterday to make sure I'd made the ultrasound appt (he said my usual dr was off and had called in as she was worried about me!). I told him I had my appt booked for tomorrow morning but asked about my blood results while he was on the phone.
My CRP levels are raised, he said 'on it's own that doesn't indicate anything' and my ferritin levels are very low (I got myself checked for anemia a few months ago as I'm constantly tired and chewing ice). He didn't comment on the ferritin levels.
So, I have a growing lump in my groin. Raised CRP levels and low ferritin. I sometimes wake with back pain also. My ultrasound is tomorrow morning.
I have to say, I'm preparing myself for something grim!

I guess I just wanted to put it out there. Anyone else had the CRP/ferritin combination with a lump? Any thoughts?

  • Hello SLClaire,

How did your ultrasound go yesterday? I hope that you have some answers by now or an indication as to what might be going on.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have had the CRP/ferritin combination as well as having a lump and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
