HPV results query

Hi all can I have some advice please I've been bleeding constantly for over a year I had these weird blister bumps on my thigh and had p.i.d 4 years ago they checked me said I was raw inside so had it pretty bad then they said I'd get a follow up never got one and I had a smear 5 weeks ago and letter said I'm hpv positive and smear was clear however I rang the doctors and she said no your smear came back abnormal and you have hpv I have a colposcopy on 6th and I've research about hpv and that can cause p.i.d so I'm thinking I've had this for years and I'm worried and hpv can cause these weird blister things on your thigh which looks exactly like what I've been getting for 4 years help I'm anxious please x

Also why would my letter say all clear apart from hpv but on the doctors have a different result saying abnormal cells etc

  • Hello Gemmasummer,

It might be worth getting in touch with your doctor who will be able to explain to you what it all means. There is useful information on the NHS website on this page to help you understand your cervical screening results. You can also find out more about HPV on our website here. Try not to worry too much as you will be in good hands for treatment and it won't be long now before your colposcopy. You can also find out more about the colposcopy on this page and I hope it all goes well for you.

Do mention to your doctor if you haven't done so already those blisters on your thighs.

I thought I would also mention this thread where [@kellybelle]‍ posted today and she is in a similar position waiting to have a colposcopy soon.

  • My doctors are not very helpful I woke up this morning with these strange blister things in the back of my mouth too and crampy tummy I lost a clot 2 days ago the size of my palm which had a strange scaley cast over it i want too sleep all day every day no energy whatsoever any advice on what could be too, I'd rather prepare for the worse and if all is good be happy but mentally this is all I think about every single day

  • Oh Gemma sorry to hear that poor you it must be so stressful. Unfortunately no one here has the medical expertise to tell you what it might be but I would suggest you ring 111 over the weekend and speak to a doctor about this. Do mention that you woke up this morning with these blisters at the back of your mouth and crampy tummy and that you lost a clot two days ago and are feeling really tired.

I hope you get to talk to someone about this soon and that it gets resolved quickly.
