Wait time for biopsy results - having a hard time

Hi all

I have a lump on my salivary gland which I had a (rather painful) biopsy done on Monday evening. I m just wondering if anyone had something similar done and what was their wait time for results? They said it will take a week for then to come back so I just keep overthinking it all, he did say though it didn't look sinister but could be lymph nodes or benign adenoma.

I am just having a bit of a tough time at the moment as this has come a week before my last two final uni exams got my masters and I can't defer them plus I am so busy at work, I am a trainee solicitor in property so we literally are non stop at the min and I am balancing that with two young boys and my husband who is trying his best to help as much as he can. Just feels like a lot at the minute I just want my results so I can focus my mind and know what this lump is. The waiting is horrendous and I'm worried I won't be able to make an appointment next week if they are during my exam times. Sorry I'm going off on a tangent now. Any advice is greatly appreciated xx

  • Hello LW1701,

I am sorry to hear that your biopsy was painful. I've had a look on this page on our website and it mentions that results normally take 1-2 weeks. While you are waiting try not to worry too much - it's reassuring that he did say that it didn't look sinister.

It's bad timing though that this has come up before your last two final university exams. It sounds really interesting what you do being a trainee solicitor so try and focus on your work and your family while you are waiting keeping busy and distracted if you can.

It won't be long now until you get your results and I am keeping everything crossed for you. Try not to worry too much about the possibility of not being able to make an appointment if it happens to fall during exam times. You will cross that bridge when it comes to it and it may be that there won't be any clash and if there is I am sure you can easily reschedule it.

Everything tightly crossed for you that the biopsy results confirm what the specialist said.

    Best wishes,
