Help Advice Please. Breast Lymph Pain

Hi, looking for some help and advice please with what could be going on? Im 40 years female.

September 2020 I noticed a lump by right breast/under arm and so headed to doc and due to covid to help nhs went private for an appointment to determine if lump cancer or not. Got physical check and ultrasound over lump and told no cancer, swollen lymph node and may have lump forever. I thought great and move on.  Since got a copy of letter from private consultant which said thickened breast tissue and normal lymphs.

October 2020 I woke up one morning to right arm being in agony and very sore to move, weak etc.  I had to rest, heat, painkillers and gentle pilates to get back to normal.  Not had this happen again. They thought this linked to my scoliosis.

Since then same lump still present and painful. Been back and forward to doc, was told it was muscle.  Docs finally referred me again to BC.

Breast Clinic wrote to say I was put on non serious waiting list. I went back to doc and they finally got me into hospital via plastic surgery! At plastic surgery I was thouroughly examined by two consultants (one was a breast specialist) and asked lots questions. I heard 'no lumpiness' in breasts' and told that because my lump hasnt grown much since last examined is a good thing'. Referred to BC for MRI and biopsi.

I have general anxiety disorder anyway so im sure can imagine how I feel. Its awful. Just wondering what your thoughts are on what has happened to me so far and what could be going on?

Just now my breasts are sore / ache. The lump is very sore, feels bit bumpy. Maybe feel bit of arm ache.

Thank you in advance for any advice, suggestions and ideas about what may be ahead. Wishing everyone well and thank you so much x

  • Hello Annabelle12 and welcome to Cancer Chat,

I can imagine it is such a stressful time for you at the moment but it's good that you have been thoroughly examined by two consultants and one of them was actually a breast specialist and was reassuring about it. I hope you won't need to wait too long for your MRI and biopsy. It must be particularly hard with having general anxiety disorder - do talk to your doctor about how you are feeling if you feel it's all a bit much and you are feeling too anxious.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for your kind words Lucie. Its horrible waiting, trying to be strong. I have my biopsi in a week. I think its an ultrasound core or fine needle, not sure. Received letter today 2cm mass in right axilia but dont think its connected to breast. Not sure what that means.

I am finding moments of calm and keeping busy is the best thing. So tired with worry I do fall asleep at night. Back taking my anxiety meds, so they will help in a bit hopefully.

Love to all going through this and thank you again for reply Lucie
