Can someone help me with these results

Hi.

Originally I was told I had cin 2 so needed a colposcopy.

I had the colposcopy which led to me needing a LLETZ loop treatment

I have just recieved my results from the lletz treatment which say

As expected it shows some pre cancerous change in the range of cin 3?

There is no evidence of cancer and the treatment appears to have removed all the cells and I need to go for a smear in 6 months

My question is

Why was it cin 2 and then all of a sudden cin 3 and does that mean I'm clear now?

I'm so worked up over it if someone could please shed some light i would be greatful thankyou

  • Hi

A colposcopy cannot give a definite diagnosis, so it’s likely you had CIN3 all along. The results from the LLETZ treatment are what gives the definitive diagnosis, which is confirmed as CIN3 cells, but your results also indicate that these cells have been successfully removed by the treatment. It is standard protocol to have another smear test in 6 months just to make sure. Try not to worry too much about this as it looks like everything is absolutely fine for you.
