Bowel polyp - So frightened and worried

Hi everyone,

My partner had a colonoscopy last week which showed a 30mm polyp. He is due to have a flexible sigmoidoscopy by the surgeon this week with the hope of removing it.

I am absolutely terrified that it will be bad news, and cannot stop thinking the worst. My partner had a negative FIT test and normal bloods, but I am so frightened that the polyp has become cancerous and spread. I am trying very hard to not be too anxious and tell my partner about how I feel, as I do not want to add to the already stressful situation.

Thanks for reading

  • Hello Lottie.

I had my colonoscopy January 2020 they found a polyp 35mm I I went back for another colonoscopy in November to have it removed and the consultant said it was to big to remove so I had surgery to remove it hadn't spread or got bigger but unfortunately it was cancerous I have had it removed 8 weeks ago and I am starting chemotherapy on Monday to hopefully kill the rest of the cancer please keep positive and I wish you all the very best.

  • Hi!

I know it's been a while since your last post, but I was wondering how is your husband doing? Was the polip benign?
Did you husband have any symptoms before the colonoscopy? I had good bloods and negative fit test and unable to get referral to colonoscopy.
