Abnormal area GOJ

Hello,

I have a Hiatus Hernia and have done since 2018, been coping with it since with Lansaprozole but seems to have got worse over the years, food feels like it gets stuck in my chest can't eat much without feeling sick so I went to my GP after 8 months finally got a gastroscopy done again and lone behold my hernia has doubled in size but surprising to me they found an abnormal area at the GOJ which it says on my report is inflamed and prominent with a Pitt pattern I have waited 2 weeks for my biopsy results and still nothing I've phoned the consultants secretary and she's saying nothing as of yet. I don't really understand what it could be or what Pitt Pattern is I  was in the recovery area got handed this report and that was the end of that and told to wait 2 weeks for a letter. Easy for your mind to wonder off when your just waiting just thought I'd post see if anyone has had a similar experience or knows much about GOJ abnormalities as all I can see is things about cancer and it's really got me thinking.

  • Hi PatelS,

I can understand this must be unsettling and I know the uncertainty and waiting for information is never easy. Around 2-3 weeks is fairly common to wait to hear results, so hopefully it won't be too long now until you get these. At this point you'll have an opportunity to talk things through with your doctor.

In the meantime if anyone here has any similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
