I had thyroid cancer. Trying to think about questions. I guess maybe about whether they expect to be removing lymph nodes as well as the thyroid itself. How long you are likely to be in hospital for. (They probably won't be able to give accurate answers to these, mind, as they probably won't know if lymph nodes need removing until they are doing the operation, but they might be able to give some indication.) Oh! If you are likely to need radioiodine treatment and whether you would have to go off medication before it, though that might be a little premature. Which form of cancer it is, if it is cancer. I actually ended up checking the treatment to see that - the doctor mentioned radioiodine treatment and I was relieved to see that is used for the two "milder" forms.

I guess the main thing is to be aware that it is a relatively mild form of cancer. It's still fairly scary, but looking back now, I'm surprised by how easy the whole thing was. Worrying about the next step at all times was the worst part.
