Those with lymphoma, were yr lymph nodes painless or painful?

Hi eveyrone, i'm lookign for some advice as some websites say contraditory things regarding if the lymph nodes are initially painful or painless?

The other week I had what i would describe as some gerd like stabbing pains under the breast area after drinking alcohol. I have had gerd in the past and this beer was particularly fizzy so i put it down to that. I then started getting a heavy feeling on my upper chest and my lymph nodes became raised and were very painful. Went to the DR who said it was likely an infection - i have no other symptoms of infection which i find worrying.

I have taken the antibiotics which seemed to take the chest pain away - although the lymph nodes still remained raised but were significantly less painful. After finishing the antibiotics, the pressure in my chest has returned but not to the degree of pain it was and the lymph nodes continue to be raised and are back to being sore again, including the back part of my neck.

I cannot note any other symptoms aside from when i lie down the pressure in my chest makes it slightly harder to breathe but it feels so slight and not even noticable.

My questions are: Were your lymph nodes painful or painless? did they change between painful and painless?

Did anyone initially get put on antiboitics and respond to them in a positive way only for the symptoms to return?

Thanks in advanced.

  • Hello cc2670

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some health concerns at the moment.

Swollen lymph nodes can take quite some time after an infection to decrease in size and sometimes they never fully return to normal.

It's clear from your post that you're still concerned about things so please do get back in touch with your GP who will be best placed to arrange any additional tests that may be appropriate.

    Best wishes,
