Swelling in one armpit

Hi everyone, I'm super anxious so came on her looking some reassurance though I will still consult my GP ASAP.

when in shower I check my breast regularly. One of my friends is recovering from Breast Cancer, my granny died from it, and I have two other friends fighting cancer, so It's been drummed into me to regularly check myself.

This past couple days when I've been in the shower, when I raise my arm, one armpit feels more swollen than the other. I can't feel a specific lump, more just one armpit feels harder and bigger on one side. The other feels the same, but just smaller.

my breasts both feel ok and I only notice it if my arm is raised.

I intend to speak to GP but I guess looking for some reassurance as I'm beyond anxious about ut

hope someone sees this and can offer some support or reassurance

thanks for reading

  • Hi Nikki,

I can imagine that this is a little stressful for you. I also had a similar experience last month (I do have an appoitment as the breast clinic next week but this is completely seperate). My right armpit was slightly swollen and harder, no lump either. I was told it was a muscle strain and because of the position I likely did it without realising. A month later and the swelling has gone down a considerable amount and I just get a slight pain if I lift my arm too quickly, I was just told it would take longer than normal to heal because you can't really rest it. It's always best to check with your GP but I hope this gives you some reassure.

  • Thank you so much, you have no idea how much this reassures me. My anxiety is through the roof just now and I'm driving myself up the wall thinking the worst of every ache and oain

really appreciate you taking the time to respond x

  • Did you find out what was wrong as I'm inhibiting the exact same problem! Xx
