Results tomorrow. Petrified!

Hi all. I've got an appointment at the hospital tomorrow for my results. I'm so scared!

I have to go alone because of covid. But I think I would have preferred it that way anyway.

Anyone got an advice on how I can stay calm today and in the morning.

I'm fearing the worst outcome but I'm still hopeful it's not as bad as I think.

  • I've had an mri and internal scan. The doctor had my mri picture up on the screen. But i wouldn't look at it. He told me the size. 3.8 x 2.4 x 2.4 cm

He said its contained in the cervix. My bladder and bowels look good. Such a relief.

I'm just waiting for a full body scan (pet scan? Or something) to double check it isn't anywhere else in my body. Before they decide on treatment.

Thank you so much for all your help over the last few weeks. You are an amazing person! I've seen all the information and support you give people on here. You are brilliant! I hope your doing well yourself.

    Xxx

  • Hello Sunshine,

Just wanted to pop on and say I'm so sorry to hear your diagnosis but great to know that it is early and treatable. I read your posts over the weekend as I too am struggling with the wait for my results appointment. I was thinking of you today so I'm so glad it turned out to not be as bad as you were fearing.

You have a brilliant and positive attitude and I wish you all the best in your treatment! Take care x

  • Thank you for your kind words Sunshine! I had an mri and CT scan to begin with but have also had a pet scan-the one where they put a radioactive tracer liquid in your arm and you have to sit quietly for about an hour until the tracer works its way round your body. The scan itself is very straightforward and doesn’t take very long.

Strangely enough my tumour was the same size as yours and also contained in the cervix. It’s very good news that your bladder and bowels look good, and hopefully you’ll soon be on your way to getting this sorted with a plan of action! Keep thinking positive, keep well and look after yourself. I’m doing fine now thank you and I am often around if you need a chat or any help. xxx

  • Minsk. Thank you so much.

Can I ask you how much bleeding I should be having? I'm getting lots of different color discharge. But occasionally I have bright red blood. It scares me. How much is normal? Well none of it is normal, but you know what i mean! Lol

  • Everyone is different-some people have a lot, some not so much. I didn’t have bleeding every day but it was bright red and there was a lot of it when it did happen! It stopped 2 weeks into treatment thankfully and never came back.xx

  • Thank you for your fast reply. I dont have it every day. It just comes on suddenly. I wasn't sure if I should call nhs direct. I had a big bleed a few weeks ago with clots and it scared me so much. I went to a&e and they didn't seem that concerned at all. Gave me tablets to stop it. Im just so scared of it happening again.

I also lost alot of blood after I had my youngest child. I was rushed to a different hospital. it traumatised me, this was 10 years ago and I still get flash backs and get scared when I have a heavy period.

Thank you. You are an amazing person. You don't know how much your helping me! Xxx

    Hi Sunshine,

I'm so glad to hear that your diagnosis was more favourable than you expected.

It is all too easy to forget to ask important questions during your consultation. I found it better to write down any questions I had in advance of my appointment - this ensures that you don't forget anything.

I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years and am still living a busy and fulfilled life. Stay positive if you can. This is the best way to beat this disease.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Oh, that does sound scary, and I’m sure it makes you extra anxious. When you have a cancer diagnosis, it’s always best to contact your oncologist with anything, in my experience. Bleeding is such a common thing with this, and personally my experience of nhs direct is not positive (for other reasons) and I’m not sure they’d be able to help. Were you given contact details for your cancer specialist nurse? They are a great source of info and help and  if you contact them in the first instance they can offer advice or speak to your consultant and get back to you. It may be that you just have to put up with it for now...I know I did, as did many other ladies I know. I would recommend from my own experience not using tampons and sticking to pads however so as not to cause any extra issues inside. xx

  • Morning. Yes I was given details for my nurse. I remembered this as soon as I had sent the last message. Lol

The bleeding seems to have calmed down a bit again now. At the moment anyway. I can deal with it as long as I know its a common thing to happen and I'm not about to bleed uncontrollably.

Definitely staying away from tampons. I cant stand the thought of putting anything up there at the moment! Haha!! And not sure i ever will again. Lol xxx

Got my covid jab this morning. Bit apprehensive about that.

Jolamine... thankyou so much for your kind words. And I'm so pleased to hear your doing so well now. Like so many on here, you give me encouragement and hope. I am feeling possitive that I can get through this too! Xxx

  • Good luck with jab Sunshine! I’ve had both of mine and had a sore arm for a day or so after the first one, and no issues after the second one at all..not even a sore arm!

Give your nurse a call later for a chat about the bleeding, but I’m sure you’ll be ok. xx
