CT SCAN

Please can everyone think of me tomorrow as I have my scan and I'm petrified of the outcome

  • Best of luck for tomorrow.  Try not to worry.

The CT scan itself is no problem at all.  If you wear clothes without metal (i.e. no bra or zips) you probably won't even need to get changed.  The radiographer will explain it all to you step by step.

Is it a "contrast" CT?  That involves an injection of a fluid into your arm during the scan.  It's not bad, just feels a bit weird.  You might get a funny taste in your throat and a 'hot flush' feeling down below.

If you don't already have a follow-up appointment booked, ask how long you should expect to wait.
I doubt they will tell you anything tomorrow.  A CT scan produces thousands of images and they have to be analysed properly befiore any conclusions can be reached.

    I'll be thinking of you.
