Hard lymph node on neck

Hello,

First time doing one of these, but have read lots! I am a very anxious person especially health wise. I've had a sore throat for probably a month or so now, my voice gets very strained (I am a receptionist so thought it was down to that since I'm talking all day). A few weeks ago I started to feel like there is something stuck in my throat on the right hand side. I then felt my throat and discovered a hard lump. Straight away I thought the worst. It feels quite big and doesn't feel the same on my left side.

I've also looked into my throat and my right tonsil is bigger than the left.

Could this be cancer? I am terrified and feel sick with worry. What if it's been there for a long time and I've only just discovered the lump?

I have a doctor's appointment in a week, I had a phone call and he said it sounds like anxiety... but there is literally a lump there?! Worried that I'm not going to be taken seriously.

Any advise would be welcomed!

  • Hello Lucy

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having some health problems recently. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious and hopefully, your appointment with the GP will bring some reassurance next week.

If you're feeling concerned about getting your point across to the Dr then you may want to think about writing down the points you want to raise during the appointment.

If you'd like to chat with our nurses ahead of your appointment then you can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

    Best wishes,
