61 and breast pain.

Hi,

I'm 61 and have a burning type of breast pain. It's hard to locate it, if I lift my breast I can feel it above my nipple area but if I actually feel around that area I can't find the exact spot, I doesn't hurt when I'm just sitting/standing etc, but if I push it it does. I'm due a breast clinic appointment in 3 days because 2 weeks ago I had a pain and a small lump which dr thinks was an infection in one little breast lobule? That went with anti biotics and was pain free for 10 days but now I have this burning sensation.totally different location to the infection.  I'm terrified, crying all the time etc. I've taken strong pain killers, used hot/cold compress but it's still there. I can't tell you how scared I am. No where seems to confirm that you can get this pain from fiborous changes or mastalgia at my age. So I'm assuming the worse senario. Are there any other older ladies, well past  menopause that have had this?
My breasts are full of Beady type tissue when I feel, is anyone else's?
grateful for any answers.

  • Hello Jujo6464

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some breast problems which have now resulted in a referral to breast clinic. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things and hopefully, some of the ladies here on the forum who have been through similar situations will post to share their experiences with you.

It can help to keep in mind that the large majority of women who attend breast clinic are not diagnosed with cancer. Breast pain is very common and it’s not normally due to cancer and there might be no obvious reason for this pain, even if you have a lot of tests. Hopefully, the team will be able to give you some reassurance about things at your appointment.

In the meantime, if you'd like to chat things through with one of our team of nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for your reply. The pain is a little less now, but I'm paranoid and not sleeping etc. As you say some other ladies on here may be able to say they've had something similar.  X
