Raised CA125 and small cyst

Hello,

I'm 24 year old and have a 3cm cyst on my ovary. I have recently had a CA 125 and this came back at 57, however I am aware a few things can raise this (and apparently it’s not massively high!).

I'm a bit concerned as this was sent across to the hospital and an urgent referral, I had a call today after 2 weeks from the doctors to say the hospital would like to see me and I am now waiting for a call/letter from the hospital.

I don't have any symptoms of OC and my periods are regular. I'm not in any pain at all, however I am now very anxious to see the consultant.

Has anyone had any similar concerns?

  • Hello Unknown1248

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some health problems which have resulted in you being referred to see a specialist. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious and I think most of our members here would agree that this period of waiting for appointments, tests, and information can be difficult.

You've already mentioned that there are a number of reasons, other than cancer, for a raised CA125 level so try to stay positive whilst you're waiting for an appointment date.

In the meantime, I wonder if you might find it helpful to chat things through with one of our team of nurses. I'm sure they will be able to offer you some advice and support. If you would like to chat with them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope you have some news soon.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
