Hi I have hpv and low grade cells have recently had another smear but am now getting pain in Bottom of my back and around pelvic and pubic bone no bleeding has anyone had these symptoms and it turned out to be cervical cancer
Backache and pelvic pain CAN be symptoms of cervical cancer but also of many other things. If you’ve just had another smear test, it’s best to wait for those results to see what you’re dealing with as comparing symptoms to others is not particularly useful and everyone’s situation is different. It’s much more likely to cause more anxiety for you, and having low grade abnormal cells is very different from a cancer diagnosis. You should try not to overthink things and diagnose something on the basis of what anyone else might have had as a symptom.
Hi yes I will take your advice I, very nearly privately booked an MRI scan today but have managed to calm myself and wait for results since being diagnosed with hpv 18 months ago I have been an Overthinking nervous wreck my life has totally been on hold
Most of the sexually active population has come into contact with the HPV virus without 3ven knowing they have it. But for some it causes abnormal cells to develop on the cervix.
An MRI scan would not be a useful thing to have at this point. That is something that is used for a confirmed cancer diagnosis and is not designed as a diagnostic tool for abnormal cells. It’s a pity you are letting this rule your life when the virus is so common, and abnormal cells are also very commonly found during the screening process.
Low grade cells may just be monitored without the need for treatment, and higher grade abnormal cells can be treated by straightforward procedures which are normally very successful.
I hope you do not have long to wait for your results-it would be highly unlikely for low grade abnormalities to be anything else other than just that. Anxiety can make us feel all sorts of aches and pains and our minds can play tricks on us. Maybe you should have some help to deal with your anxiety if it is affecting your life to such a degree?
