Breast lump

I found a hard lump in my left breast. I also have a swelling of the auxiliary tissue in the joint of my armpit which is really noticeable when I wear vest tops. I also have pain in the outside of my breast and it can get really quite sore. Also been having extreme tiredness and loss of appetite and nausea. Saw the doctor who said they can definitely feel something unusual and referred me to the breast clinic however it's at least a 6 week wait for an appointment. Has anyone else had similar symptoms and it turned out yo be nothing?

    Hi Louise,

I am sorry to hear aout your symptoms. You have done the right thing in contacting your GP and getting referred to the breast clinic. Most GPs refer patients on the urgent 2 week pathway. Is there any reason why your GP hasn't done this? Some lumps can be cancerous but more often they are benign and can be cysts or fibrous thickening. It is a fact that out of every 8 people referred to the breast clinic, only 1 will receive a cancer diagnosis. It is also unusual to have breast pain with cancer.

It might be worth contacting your GP to see if she can refer you on the 'urgent' pathway to cut down on waiting time. I sincerely hope that all turns out well for you.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure why to be honest but she did say if symptoms worsen then to get in touch and they will escalate it so I get seen sooner. I shall phone tomorrow and see what they say.

    Thanks so much x
