24 and bleeding after sex

Hi everyone,

ive been bleeding for the last couple of months after sex (no other symptoms at all just the bleeding after sex, no pain or discharge etc) it's only when wiping however one occasion was very severe. I have been on contraception since I was 16 but I changed to the depo injections last September so just assumed this was due newly injections and left it a few more injections (I'm due my 4th In July) I had my first smear test 5 week ago on Monday, I didn't bleed after however there was blood in the pot when mixing and she said this was normal (she's a family friend) but still waiting on results, it also worries me as my mum had her smear after me and hers came back normal within a week!. I wasn't overly concerned untill the dreaded google but I just wondered if anyone else has had bleeding after sex with no other side effects and come out ok? I'm booking in for a telephone appointment with my GP on the 8th regardless if my smear is normal as I'd rather be double checked, it's causing me anxiety of not even wanting to touch my partner, it's abit like if I don't have sex, I don't the bleeding  and I forget.. but my anxiety takes over after sex when I'm bleeding on wiping the next morning!
thanks all

  • Hello Rebacca96,

Waiting times can vary and due to the pandemic demands on health services have grown. When you are worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor. I can understand waiting for results can be nerve wracking, but there are some tips here that could help.

    I hope this is helpful,
