Really worried, thickened endometrium with vascular areas

Hi

I have been having lower abdominal pressure and heavy bleeding in between my periods for 4 months. Finally went to the the doctors abd was referred for a TVS ultrasound. Findings were a fibroid, endometrium thickness of 12 mm, a heterogeneous endometrium with feeder vessels and vascularity. I was told after my scan I would receive my results within a week but was called the next day to be told I'd been put on the cancer fast track service as they needed to rule out endometrial cancer. I am having my Hysteroscopy tomorrow which I am so nervous about.

I was wanting to see if any of you ladies had symptoms abd results similar to mine and what the outcome was for you and how you found the hysteroscopy? Can they tell you at the time of the hysteroscopy if they think its cancer?

Thanks so much in advance for any replies

  • Hi Sarah

welcome to the site. I'm new and keep reading to see if anyone is going through similar to me. I also have thickened endiometrial lining of 18mm, they have found polyps and cysts and I too am bleeding my between periods. I went for my hysteroscopy two weeks ago but it got abandoned as my cervix would not dilate and they found more growths on the outside of my cervix. They removed one polyp and sent for biopsy of which I'm still waiting for results. I have been fast tracked for a hysteroscopy tomorrow under GA. I'm trying to stay positive but it's certainly a worrying and difficult time now knowing.

they won't be able to tell you at the hysteroscopy if u have cancer. They usually have to send samples for biopsy. But try abs remain positive as these things can turn out to be benign and fine. I'm desperate to find out my findings but should know much more tomorrow.

good luck for tomorrow, please let them know if it becomes painful. I found it extremely uncomfortable but persisted to get things done. However it wasn't possible in my situation. Good luck and please let me know how you get on tomorrow.

    best wishes

  • Hi Louise

Thank you so much for replying. Sorry to hear you are going through this and hoping that all turns out good for you. Thank you for the heads up about the hysyeroscopy too, let's hope they can do it tomorrow so I don't have to wait any further for the biopsies doing. Waiting is the hardest part isn't it :(

Did they do an urgent GA as they found other growths on your cervix ? Then only reason me asking is that I was in a&e with a major bleed a couple of days ago and they found another growth on my cervix which has appeared within the last 6 weeks (I know this because I had a smear 6 weeks ago that was all normal)

    Thanks again for replying

    Best wishes

  • Hi Sarah

i Understand I'm having the hysteroscopy done by GA due to my cervix not dilating. I have scar tissue from a previous Lletz procedure (pre-cancerous cells from smear test) so I think that's the main reason. Plus I found the hysteroscopy being done awake quite painful but again I was told that my cervix was closed and hence why I was in so much pain.

Waiting is definitely the hardest part and even though I'm going in tomorrow I still want to know now the results of my first biopsy. Hopefully I will know more tomorrow when I see my consultant.

my polyps have only developed recently too as my smear was in July and was all clear but the abnormalities and growths were found back in October. I find it so strange that my symptoms have come on so quickly and unfortunately are getting worse each week.

I do hope you get on well tomorrow, pls let me know. I am remaining fairly positive as it's not always bad news and even when it is if it's found early enough there's lots of treatment options,

    kindest regards

    Donna

Best of luck for tomorrow, really hope all goes well and you get the news you're hoping for. I will post on here how mine goes tomorrow too.

Keeping positive abd thinking that if this is the dreaded C then as you say lots of treatment options available thankfully.
