I have a load of moles too and up until recently, I ignored them all. I've been to dermatologists since and even the ones which seems to change or grow on an almost daily basis were nothing to worry about apparently. I had some which were jet black and really weird looking but they were totally benign. They said some people just have more active skin than other people. 

Good plan to get them checked though! I've started making a point to look at mine each month now just to keep a track.

Thank you so much for responding. I know that I should be checking them regularly and then going for yearly check ups but I just completely ignored it. It's comforting to know that it's not always bad news, even with a change. 
I'm glad the wheels are in motion now to get them checked, I just need to keep calm and not worry until there is something to worry about. Easier said than done as I'm now convinced that every little pain and jiggle I have in my back or legs is something sinister that is connected to my moles

It sounds as though you may have dysplastic (atypical) moles - these look dodgy but are benign. However, they may want to remove any that they are suspicious of because only a biopsy can confirm if they are dysplastic or cancerous. People with dysplastic moles tend to have over 100 moles on their body, including ugly ducklings!

Thank you so much for responding Angie and for giving me that reassurance. I do think they may be aytypical and I'm trying to stay as positive as I can but I am just so annoyed with myself for letting it get this far without regular checks. With over 100 moles I know the risks and dangers and as soon as I noticed a change I should have taken it seriously. 
The wait is agonising so trying to distract myself and I will definitely let you know how I get on.

sorry it's taken a while to respond. I'm still waiting to be seen, I think the waiting times have been impacted by COVID. The wait is the worst part isn't it, I just want them off me. How are you doing? Have you had your referral yet? I had a few days where I was really overcome with health anxiety but I'm feeling ok at the moment. Trying to be logical and take Angies advice xx

long time no speak. Since we last messaged I have had two sets of mole mapping photos, 3 month apart.

following my last set of pictures my dermatologist noticed a subtle change in on of my moles and I had it removed today. Anxious wait for the results and I'm feeling a bit sore but feel reassured that it was spotted relatively quickly and removed within 4 weeks. Hope you're ok xx
