Is it normal to wait 4-6 weeks for information?

Hiya,

So after having abnomal vaginal bleeding I was referred for a routine smear test that discovered high grade CIN3 cells and HPV 18. I very quickly was referred to have a LLETZ procedure to have to 'bad' cells removed and at the time they take a biopsy. Everyone was telling me it was all very routine and no need for any alarm. The consultant told me I would just need another smear in 6 months to make sure all the abnormal cells were gone and hadn't returned.

However, yesterday I received a letter from the hospital saying the specimen taken from my cervix has been analysed and needs further discussion with the multidisciplinary team to decide on the best management. It then says these meetings take place every 4-6 weeks and they will contact me with the outcome.

Does this seem a normal amount of time to wait?

I can't quite decide what this actually means. Should this be a cause for alarm?
