Lump in neck

Hi there,

At the start of April, I found a swollen lymph node in the side of my neck. I went to the GP's and had some blood tests that came back normal. I was told to come back in 4 weeks if it doesn't dissappear. Sometimes I notice a difference when I swallow between the two sides of my neck, and it can be painful when I sneeze. Other than this I feel completely fine.

I am at uni and have exams coming up soon so the next time I go back to the doctors will be after my exams. I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice as I'm a bit worried this could be more serious than I first thought as it have been 7 weeks and has not gone away.

Many thanks

  • Hi Josh0152,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of your worries - I know the uncertainty is never easy.

I would suggest to follow the doctor's advice for now and to return in a few weeks if nothing has changed. Try to use this time to take your mind off the worries and to focus on your exams. The waiting time won't make a difference so try not to let the worries get to you - keeping busy and finding distractions (such as your studies) should help, and the doctor will be able to help if you need to see them again after a few weeks.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
