Red flag referral

Hello

I'm new to this and just want to tell someone as I don't want to say anything to husband/family yet. A few months ago I discovered a ridge like hard lump in my left breast. Today I saw my gp who has made a "red flag referral" to the breast clinic. She also said it's probably fine. How do I balance those two things? She found the lump no problem and described it as about 1.5cm and a long shape rather than round, and mobile. Its not painful. I also have a strange sensation when I let my arm rest again at my side. Like I have something there, like a swelling in that area, or a thickness,  although there isn't any swelling. So that's me. Now to wait for the breast clinic appt.

  • HI, I had this too, not long ago. I thought i had a lump and pain for a while and went to GP. She said she coudl feel a lump on one breast that wasnt on the other and also referred me on the 2 week cancer list. I had a mammogram and thankfully it was fine - just lumpy breasts! Like you, i paniked but i think they just dont take the riskl of it being cancer and missing it so if there is any doubt, they refer you.

Im sure you will be fine. Its so hard not to think the worst but it may be they are being expecially cautious, which is good!

  • Hi, I found 2 lumps in my breast and was at the doctor's yesterday who has put an urgent referral in to the breast clinic.

Dr didn't give me any information other than one is very large.

Very worrying situation, hope all goes ok for you x
