CIN2 and no treatment

Hello,

I had a normal smear test last January but was sent to the colposcopy clinic as the nurse doing the smear test noticed some growths.

I then had a biopsy which showed CIN1 and the doctor recommended another smear test in 12 months so I had that done in January of this year and was sent back to the colposcopy clinic as the growths were still there. This time the biopsy showed CIN2 and the smear test came back normal again.

The doctor sent a letter saying she would discuss my case at the MDT meeting due to the persistence of CIN and because my smear tests kept coming back normal. She said that I would receive another letter with my management plan.

Today I received her letter but all they've decided at the MDT meeting was to give me another appointment at the colposcopy clinic next March.

I am very confused as to why there was no treatment suggested just another appointment. Has anyone else had CIN2 with no treatment suggested?

Thank you!

  • Hello Katt.tm,

I can understand why you are feeling confused. Next March does sound like a long way away and with CIN2 you would expect to be getting some form of treatment soon. Perhaps it would be worth ringing your doctor and asking for more details on what was discussed at the MDT meeting and the conclusions they reached. They might be able to tell you more about why no treatment has been suggested yet. So do get in touch with your doctor who will have all the information to hand and will be able to share more details about this with you.

I do hope you get a bit more clarity on this very soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you! I will call the hospital on Monday and ask to speak to the doctor.
