How Long Does It Take To Get A Diagnosis???

I have not been feeling well for 10-15 years. I have had 'fibromyalia' & 'palindromic rheumatoid arthritus' banded about as 'diagnoses' but never felt like they fit with my symptoms. I have 'flare ups' with fingers, hands, or knees swelling up, like as if the skin will burst. Tiredness bordering on narcolepsy.

For the last 3-4 years or maybe more, its hard to remember I have been running a fever. 37.2 every morning, and 38 by the evening, every single day. That in itself makes me feel rough. Then the breathlessness has got progressively worse. I do daily walking, and weekly yoga. I went on to HRT Dec 2019. I was supposed to be monitored, but covid happened. I have steadily gained weight ever since. During the last year, after contracting something horrid in March 2020, which was probably CV19, I have never been the same. I have become unable to function. I have not had any supoort from GP's. I feel like I am on a conveyor belt. Never have enough time to tell them what's wrong, never mind have them give me a diagnosis.

I has got to the point, where I don't feel anyone has the time to care what is wrong with anyone.

I have gone private a couple of times, and found that an altogether different experience. I can't really afford it. But what price can you put on health - right?

I have recently, out of desperation, put my symptoms and my results into a symptom checker called "Isabel" and AI tool which apparently even the Doctors use. It gave me the diagnosis of Lymphoma - Hodgkin or Non-Hodgking or Burkitt. I went to see the Lymphoma specialist the site recommended. He spent an hour talking with me, and examining me, and ordered a full body CT scan... I am now waiting for the results.

  • Hello GlowJoy

I'm sorry to hear that you've been living with ongoing health problems for such a long time. I'm sure it's been incredibly difficult and frustrating at times not having answers. Hopefully, the latest investigations you've had will shed some light on what is going on for you.

We know that waiting for test results can be a difficult time and I think that many of our members here will understand that. Try to take each day as it comes as not look too far ahead as this will only leave you feeling anxious. Did the Consultant give an indication of when you may hear from them with the results or a follow-up appointment?

I hope that you have some answers soon and that things improve.

    Best wishes,
