Going out of my mind over my ovaries!!

Hi everybody,

Apologies for the long winded post but here it goes...

I'm 29 years of age, spent 13 years on the pill (with one break to conceive our daughter) fast forward to today I have been off the pill since August.

I suffered a chemical pregnancy in January and to be honest since then everything has gone down hill it took 7 weeks for me to get my period back and then when I did I had one more after in April then nothing since.

When I had the miscarriage I had a ultrasound and also a transvaginal scan, they could not see any sign of a pregnancy and concluded it was a missed miscarriage.

They scanned all of my insides and done a small report, in which it states

Both ovaries were slightly enlarged my left was 35mm x 23mm x 18mm

And my right was 24mm x 23mm x 18mm

They noted both my ovaries were polysistic and the outline was smooth

During the scan she called in the professor in the gynecology department who also had a look and concluded I had alot of scar tissue from my previous c section. Again he noted polysistic ovaries.

I hadn't thought too much about any of up until now.

I have been spotting every day for a month and I had missed my period by over a week, the doctor has referred for for a Pelvic Ultrasound. I did mention having one previous but she said just to be on the safe side..

I guess what I'm looking for is maybe some reassurance?

Surely if I had a mass or anything that looked suspicious it would of been picked up when they conducted my miscarriage scan in mid January?

Has anybody else had ongoing spotting and it just been hormonal?

Thank you very much, I am an anxious wreck over this all.

  • Hello Danalan2015

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some ongoing health problems over the past few months. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about the symptom that you've been experiencing.

It's reassuring to hear that the tests you've had to date haven't raised any areas of concern and it sounds as if your GP is being cautious with requesting this further scan which is great.

Hormones can be responsible for all sorts of weird, wonderful, and downright awful changes in our bodies. It sounds as if your body has been through quite a few changes over the past few months and hopefully the upcoming ultrasound will give you some reassurance.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our nurses you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm.

I do hope that things settle and improve for you soon.

    Best wishes,
