Lumps found in breasts & swelling in armpits. Anyone else?

Hi everyone, 

just thought I would ask a few questions instead of google , I'm 23 years old and felt a lump on my right breast the other day but have also had swelling in lymph nodes at my armpits , I went to gp two days ago and she also felt the lump with no problem, she said because of my age it would be a non urgent referral. She also said she could feel a lump in my left breast too , I feel the one in the right is starting to become painful and the texture of skin is different to the left.  Would anyone have any previous experience with this ? Thank you

    A big welcome to Cancer Chat! You are right not to ask Google any questions as we all know how tempting it is to check symptoms on Google. It often only succeeds at making us even more anxious so do keep well away from it. You did the right thing in going to your GP after you found this lump and all you can do for now is wait to be seen by the specialist. I hope that you won't have to wait too long. 

    I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less worried. 

    I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.
