Posterior Cervical Lymph Node

Hey,

I just wanted to come on here and talk about the lymph nodes on my neck on the posterior cervical area. I've had so much health anxiety relating to lymph nodes.

just a month ago my GP was adamant that the swelling of my armpit which was pea sized grew to be a golf ball and then got better with antibiotics was a lymph node but I wanted an ultrasound and it confirmed that it's a sebaceous cysts which I was really relieved about.

however once the GP thought it was a swollen lymph node in my armpit they asked for me to check other areas like neck and groin and I found 1 swollen one on each of the posterior cervical area so one of the right and one on the left side.  I've been to the GP and he couldn't feel it but I guided him and he said they are moveable and small.

but yesterday I touched my neck again to see if there were any changed and now I can feel 2 lymph nodes in the left side of the posterior cervical area and the other right side still had the one. They don't hurt and they feel quite movable but I'm really stressed as another swollen lymph node has come up and it's right next to the previously swollen one that never settled.

so currently I'm stressing and trying to not google because I've already done that in the past with my armpit and I know everything about it but it stressing me out again.

it anyone's had a similar experience, if you could keep me updated about your experiences I would appreciate it a lot

  • Hi Mellisa,

I'm sorry to hear of your ongoing issues with this. I'm not sure what came of your last appointment with the doctor and whether you have any next steps any place or not, but really it's only your doctor who can advise on this - so if you feel you haven't had any answers and things are still concerning you, the only thing to do is to make another apppointment. However if the doctor previously said they weren't concerned, try to take some reassurance from that.

Do try to avoid Googling as it's not possible to self-diagnose and looking things up online tends to only increase worries.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
