Suspected Ovarian Cancer

I had blood tests done last week and my doctor rang on Friday to say my CA 125 levels were high and he is referring me for a scan.  I am 49 and had breast cancer 4 years ago.  I am so worried about this, I have gone through menopause due to my treatment for breast cancer.  Is there anything else this could be?

    It's completely understandable given your history but as you'll see here, a high CA125 level could mean many things so try not to think the worst if you can. Always easier said than done I know, but I hope these tips will help calm your nerves whilst you wait for your scan and the results.

    Hi

    Thanks for getting back to me.  I have now got my appointment for 27th May but it doesn't mention a scan, just that it is with the Gynacology Service and that I will be seen by a Consultant or a member of their team.  Is this normal?

    I'm glad you've now got an appointment Ali and that it isn't too far away.

    Ovarian Cancer Action have some useful information about the referral process just here but do be sure to have a quick chat with your doctor about this as they'll be able to answer your questions in more detail.
