Hysteroscopy after ultrasound

I was recently referred by my GP under the cancer pathway because of yellow discolouration of my cervix and post-coital bleeding.  I had an examination done at Gynaecology and they were happy that it was fine and sent me for ultrasound just in case. I had the ultrasound external and internal last week. I haven't heard anything, then received an appointment letter for this Friday for a hysteroscopy/biopsy. I don't know why unless this is normal procedure? Or did the ultrasound pick something up?

  • Hi Yellow_diamond,

It may be the case that the ultrasound picked something up that they want to take a further look at. However I can't say for sure - the best thing would be to ask at the appointment this week and to discuss any concerns you have.

Wishing you all the best and I hope you're able to find out more soon,

  • Hi Ben

Thanks for getting back to me

The hospital have just rang me and advised that the ultrasound scan found presence of polyps in the inner lining of the womb. Which is why I am booked in for hysteroscopy and they will be taking a biopsy as well during hysteroscopy.
I've moved my appointment to next week on Saturday.

    Thanks again
