Does anyone know why a pleurodesis couldn't be done?

Hi all

My husband went into hospital 2 weeks ago to have fluid drained off his chest, lung biopsies and a pleurdesis performed.

The surgeon was unable to do the pleurodesis as he "didn't like what he saw" during the procedure.

We get the biopsy results next week but just wondered  if anyone could advise on any reasons why a pleurodesis cannot be performed? I'm driving myself crazy not knowing, the wait for results is awful and I refuse to "google" it

Thank you

  • Welcome to the forum Caz although I'm sorry the pleurodesis couldn't be carried out.

Hopefully some of our members who have had a similar experience will get back to you soon but if you'd like to discuss this with one of our cancer nurses, you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Good luck with your husband's biopsy results next week Caz. I hope they bring good news.
