Neck lump biopsy

Hello,

I've now got about 4 lumps on my neck, the longest having been there about 7 months but a new one has been appearing every few months. After a couple of GP appointments I got referred to a neck lump clinic where they took an ultrasound and a biopsy. I was told the biopsy results would take up to two weeks but it's been 3 now and I've heard nothing. I'm 21 which I've read is a relatively common age for lymphoma. Every time the phone rings or the post comes I'm riddled with anxiety.

Does anyone have any advice on who to contact to find out when I might receive them? The number for the clinic doesn't take incoming calls.

  • I'm off for a biopsy on my thyroid next week so I'm in a similar position!

I've had a bunch of other health related things over recent years and chasing for results is really hard! The most helpful way I've found is speaking to the hospitals PALS department. It stands for Patient Advice and Liaison (I think) and they can speak to your clinic and chase them up or give you some direct contact details.

Or look on the hospital website and try and find a secretaries number. Sometimes I have managed to get through to a clinic which wouldn't accept my calls directly when I've been put through by someone else in the hospital
