Feeling fobbed off... am I being stupid?

I had a breast appointment yesterday. The consultant felt my boobs and under my arm, she said she couldn't feel anything of concern despite my lump under the arm. I then went for a scan of my lymph nodes and the guy said he couldn't see anything of concern either and my lymph nodes look normal. I basically never got an answer as to what the lump is I am feeling under my arm and I can't help but worry it has been missed. Am I being completely irrational and should take comfort that neither of them saw anything that concerned them.

I know I must sound like a crazy person but I was sort of expecting answers as to what it was I ould feel and I didn't get them!

thanks

  • If you're not feeling particularly ill then go back to your GP and see if you can request a biopsy. Keep a symptom diary and consider taking pictures over the time you're waiting so you can note if it gets larger or smaller.

  • Hi,

Just wanted to say I am similar, I have two enlarged nodes under my arm (same arm as Covid jab but that was 14 weeks ago now!). I feel like I've been going around in circles for five weeks trying to get an answer. I had cancer in my lymph nodes of my other arm years ago so I'm terrified.

I had the lump biopsied twice (FNA & Core) & both samples have come back with spurious results the last one being just connective tissue found which sounds like they missed the node but they told me no further action & discharged me! It's all really confusing and I'm no nearer to an answer either.

Hooe you get yours sorted x

  • I've decided I am going to ring the GP and speak to them about my concerns. I'm going to ask if there is a blood test I can have to help put my mind at ease.... But the lump is still there and I feel like the consultant decided there was nothing wrong with me and didn't take the time to find the lump
