Ovarian mass and thickening of the womb

Hi, im new to this site and I'm worried sick.

I was diagnosed with a prolapsed bladder but when talking to my consultant and told her about the pain I'm in she sent me for a ultrasound and a transvaginal scan.

It showed up a solid mass measuring 2.5cm on my ovary and thickening of the lining of my womb.

She also sent me for a CA125 blood test.

This came back with no red markers I was told.

My periods are all over the place, I can bleed for 6 weeks then not have a period for 5 weeks bleed again for 27 days and no period for 3 months.

I am having a hysteroscopy and biopsy next Wednesday.

But as some do I googled and just because my ca125 came back ok I'm still so scared that I could have cancer.

Has anyone else had both a mass and thickening of the womb lining?

Sorry for the long post.

  • Hello Gilly_81,

This is obviously a really worrying time for you and I hope that you will get some answers soon. It's good that they have been so thorough and sent you for all these tests. It's reassuring that the CA125 came back with no red markers and I hope that the hysteroscopy and biopsy next Wednesday will shed some light on what has been causing these issues.

It's normal to be tempted to do some googling but as everyone here will say Dr Google is not terribly reliable and tends to bring up worst case scenarios. So try not to pay attention to what Google says and it won't be long now until you get some answers. Keeping distracted and focused on other things may help as the wait for results can feel really long.

I thought I would also mention another member I welcomed this morning [@Chlot]‍ who although she hasn't been told she has a mass, also has a thickening of the womb and is waiting for results from her biopsy. It helps to talk to others who are going through a similar thing and who will understand how difficult this long wait for answers might be.

I hope everything goes well for you on Wednesday and that you find out more soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Gilly

im new here too and similarly to you I'm currently having tests to find out what is causing my irregular bleeding. I went for an ultrasound and they found endiometrial lining was 18mm thick, polyps and cysts.
I went for a hysteroscopy last week but the procedure was abandoned due to finding more growths and my cervix wouldn't dilate.
I have blood tests tomorrow and a hysteroscopy under general anaesthetic now next Tuesday.

It's a really worrying time and I understand how you feel. Although I haven't been told I have a mass I have been informed there is a growth in my womb.

I wish you all the best and I do hope you have positive results. Please let me know how you get on.

  • Hi,

Had my hysteroscopy yesterday, what an awful experience that was. I was told the lining of my womb looked ok which was great news. He still took a biopsy though. He did find some large fibroids, so it was decided to fit a Mirena to help with the bleeding problems. We shall see if that works and helps with all the pain I have been getting, if not he said he would operate to remove the fibroids.

With regards to the mass on my ovary I have to have another ultrasound to see if it has grown since my last scan and then they will take it from there on weather I will need to have a laparoscopy to have a biopsy taken from that.

I hope all goes well for you. Wishing you all the best and please let me know how you get on.x

  • Hi Gilly

glad you've had your hysteroscopy and it went okay although not the best experience. I hope you get your results back soon and it's all positive.

my operation is Tuesday so I will keep you posted with how it goes. It's the waiting and time things take but fingers crossed at least I'll know what I'm dealing with.

    take care
