What’s your thoughts?

Hello,

I’m not diagnosed and don’t want to come across as naive or selfish etc, I’m just here for your thoughts if possible.

My family (both sides) has a very very strong and sadly not good history with all different types of cancer. I have been having problems with my shoulder for 16 months now and have tried various treatments with no help or relief....it’s getting worse.

I went for a procedure on it a few weeks ago but it could not be carried out as the consultant found inflammation on/around my collarbone & shoulder so has sent me for an MRI (this Sunday). The hospital have just rung me and told me that it’s important I attend this MRI which has made me feel slightly anxious.

What are your thoughts on this? Sorry if my post seems vague, I have posted about it previously on this forum.

Thankyou for responses, love and warmth to you all x

  • Hello AlwaysAWorrier

I just wanted to post to wish you well for your scan on Sunday. Hopefully, this will give the team some answers about your ongoing health concerns and they will be able to move forward with treating things.

    Best wishes,

  • I just wanted to say hi and wish you well.  Hopefully the MRI will identify an issue that can be easily addressed.  I have a lot of pain when raising my right arm in a certain way.  I think my muscles may be a bit weak although this could be due to me potentially having progressive MS.  Sincerely hoping your inflammation is something which can be quickly rectified.

  • Thankyou celticlass, it’s just so bizarre! There was no injury, no knock, nothing and out the blue it started aching with pain and then got too agonising to even hold a Hoover (driving was painfully impossible). Iv had frozen shoulder and rotator cuff tears eliminated from the possibility of problems following the previous tests and imagining completed so im totally stumped.

My dads brother died a year ago from bowel cancer, my mums only brother is currently having chemo for blood cancer (the lumps in the neck type), my mum is awaiting biopsy results for skin cancer and her estranged father has terminal prostrate cancer. This is alongside many aunties & uncles that passed away within the last 2 years aswell as a number that are having treatment for cancer (some terminal). My families history isn’t very good with cancer sadly so the worry has been gently pressing on my mind while I wait.

Thankyou for your kind words, I haven’t got anyone to talk to so this forum is a god send. Hopefully the MRI will show whatever the problem is so it can get sorted. I do hope you can get your pain managed soon and start to feel better. MS is a horrible disease, i used to care for an elderly lady who was in a wheelchair with it x

  • Thankyou for your kind words Jenn. I am just desperate to get the aching and pain to stop as it’s stopping me sleeping at night. I’m a little bit anxious & worried it’s something sinister that’s taken time to present itself. I do hope you have a good weekend x

  • If anything untoward is found during the MRI would they tell me there & then or would I have to wait for the results? and how soon after would things be referred to the appropriate teams? I apologise if this is too many questions and Thankyou for any help x
