Possible cervical cancer?

Hi everyone, I'm a mother of 4 and nan of 4 who is aged 44 lol.

I've been bleeding quite heavy for about ten weeks now. It does contain quite a lot of clots too. No vaginal discharge though.

 

I've also been suffering from constipation which is something I've always suffered from but recently it's been so bad it's resulted in piles.

 

I called the Dr today and he's put me in for an emergency referral to the local women's hospital, in his words "to rule out the big C".

 

I have also been suffering from a heavy feeling which I've put down to period pain but obviously that's because I have been on my period for a while so period pain is surely to be expected.

 

I've been reading up on cervical cancer and tbh it's all just so frightening. I've just read a website saying that if your first symptom is heavy, persistent bleeding then it's already to late for treatment?!

 

I was due my smear test in Feb this year but it had to be put back due to my surgery concentrating on covid vaccinations. They called my end of March to book but I told them I was on my period and they said book it when you come off but I haven't stopped bleeding since. 
 

Any help, advice or knowledge would be much appreciated as I'm worrying myself sick.

    Hi Lourolls

    Can I recommend you don’t consult doctor google? It is absolute nonsense to say that persistent bleeding means it is too late for treatment! You will only frighten yourself reading this kind of inaccurate stuff. 

    Obviously it’s impossible to say what’s going on until you have further tests, so it’s best to wait for these before jumping ahead to a cancer diagnosis. I’ve had experience of cervical cancer but trusted in my medical team and didn’t consult google at all, ever. I strongly suggest you avoid it too.

    Hi, ty for your response. You're right though, everything on Google pretty much says I died a week ago! 
     

    I just hope the referral comes through quickly now

    Well, google would have probably had me dead and buried years ago, so I chose to have a positive attitude and take at a day at a time. You’ll feel much better once you know what’s going on and get any necessary treatment.

    Hi, looks like yesterday was a scary day for both of us.

    I managed to get a phone appointment with my doctor on Friday and told her that I was convinced I was going through some form of hormonal issue dispite not being in menopause (I am 51). I raised this twice with nurses at surgery (at smear test and 50-year old check) and they both said that I was still having periods so I shouldn't worry.  I told the doctor this and said I didn't want to be fobbed off any more.

    Doctor invited me in for a physical and did another smear test - at which point she said she wanted to refer me for an urgent appointment due to noticing 2 tiny dots on my cervix where they shouldn't be.  She likened them to a small pimple on your face, and when I said I didn't get them she said 'oh you are lucky' then realised what she had just said.

    I am now waiting for the urgent appointment and an ultrasound appointment, I also have a blood test booked in for next week to check general health and hormones.  To be fair to her she was great, but obviously doesn't have the time or ability to reassure me.  

    I'm normally a positive person but I'm in bits.  Can't lean on hubby because he is recovering from health issues and depressed following redundancy, so I'm pretty much on my own.

    Determined not to google - scared enough already.

    Hi there. Oh no so sorry to hear that. It's the word "urgent" that sends you into a worried panic isn't it.
