Urinary frequency causing agony

Okay so I'm 20 years old and for the past year I've been experiencing a variety of symptoms:

- Urinary frequency (probably the most troubling symptom - I always always need to go)

- Loose stools

- Muscle twitches

- EXTREME fatigue (like sleeping 11+ hours a night and still feeling exhausted)

- Numbness in my right leg

- Indigestion (chest pain and reflux)

- Unusual discharge

I went to a&e last year and was sent for an mri to rule out MS and that was all clear so they said the symptoms would probably go away by themselves - which they haven't.

I've been to my gp so many times and she doesn't seem to take my concerns about cancer seriously - probably due to my age and the fact that she thinks I'm a hypochondriac. I also brought up cancer to a urologist and she said I was a bit young to have cancer ??

Something is definitely going on and my gp just won't listen to me so I'd just like to know if anyone else experienced symptoms like this prior to diagnosis.

Thank you so much in advance for any input/advice :)

  • Hello Surprisingsurprise

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some ongoing health problems. It sounds like it's been a very frustrating time for you and it's understandable that you want some answers particularly as things haven't improved.

Is it possible to make an appointment with a different GP at the practice? There could be many reasons for the symptoms that you're experiencing so try not to focus on it being cancer. Unfortunately, no one here will be able to give you a diagnosis although if anyone has had similar experiences or has any advice to offer they will post to share their thoughts with you.

Do get back in touch with your GP surgery. If you feel that you're not being listened to or taken seriously then you could contact the Practice Manager to raise your concerns.

I do hope that you have some answers soon and that things improve.

    Best wishes,
