Ultrasound pelvis results

Hi all

I suffer with anxiety and I also tend to google stuff which makes my anxiety worse, so i thought I would ask for some general advice from people who may be in, or have experienced, similar circumstances and symptoms!

I have extremely heavy periods. They last for 14 days and I have five days where i pass huge clots bigger than a 50p piece and flood my clothing (sorry for that much information!)

As a result, i have anaemia and am currently on iron tablets for this

I have also been feeling extremely exhausted and breathless, which isn't good when I work full time and have four school aged children and a house to run!

My GP referred me for a pelvic ultrasound scan and said would refer my to gynae too. I had this yesterday.. Both an abdominal scan and a transvaginal scan. The lady who did the scan told me to contact my GP in 10 days time for the result and shared nothing during the scan (I know they can't comment)

I had a message today from the GP surgery to book an appointment to speak to them about the scan and 'my referral'. I rang the GP surgery and cannot get an appointment until the end of the month and then, it is a telephone appointment

Does this likely mean nothing untoward or sinister showed up? Surely they wouldnt wait over two weeks to tell me the results if they were bad? And it wouldn't be over the phone?

Any advice gratefully received

Thank you all

  • Hello Piper Jam,

There's no way of knowing at the moment until you have your next telephone appointment with your GP. When you are worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers online, but this can end up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. And the only person that can diagnose you is your doctor. I can understand waiting for results can be difficult, but these tips here could be helpful.

    Best wishes,
