Hello - I am looking for some advice regarding BIA-ALCL.
I have 20 year old McGhan (Allergen) textured implants which were recalled in 2019. I have been having regular MRIs to check for rupture over the past 9 years. No evidence of rupture but MRIs are showing small amount of fluid behind one implant. The amount of fluid has increased slightly in last 3 years between MRI performed in 2018 and one done this year. Diameter has stayed at 40mm but AP dimension has increased from 4 to 8 mm. I am concerned about BIA-ALCL. The amount of increase in fluid is only slight so according to my doctor I am low risk. She does not think it is suspicious and says it may just be chronic post operative seroma. However there was an increase in depth of fluid in last 3 years. Looking back at my MRI report from 2012 there was the mention of "small (physiological) trace of fluid around the left implant". The most recent MRI report states that the location of fluid (behind implant) means it is not amenable to image guided aspiration.
I have no other symptoms other the fluid (which I would not be aware of but for the MRIs) however I am still concerned given that the implants are textured and Allergen.
I don't know what to do - and whether I should have the implants removed. I haven't had any issues with them at all but am worried about possibility of the fluid being sign of ALCL and given their age.
I would be really grateful for thoughts from anyone experienced with BIA-ALCL.
