Terrified I have inflammatory breast cancer

Hey all

I'm hoping to hear some stories from people who had the same symptoms as me but ended up something other than cancer?! I have had a dull ache in my left arm for months ...I've been thinking it's because of a trapped nerve because I've put on weight over lockdown. However it was starting to feel worse and also now my right arm is starting to feel similar. I went to the doc and she found a lump in my left armpit so referred me to the breast clinic. I've got a private appointment for a weeks time and now I feel like I can feel hot burning in my left breast...also the areola around the nipple on my left breast looks swollen/ like it's got bigger. I am not eating or sleeping. I am a single parent to two kids under 5. Feels like I could faint with the anxiety of it all! Any advice? Words or experiences of comfort?

Thanks so much

  • Hello:) I haven't had the same experience as you but all I can say is I found a lump not to long ago after feeling so anxious it turned out to be benign, I know it's easy for me to say please don't worry but I have had that anxious feeling to and it was a terrible time, most breast lumps turn out to be benign there could be loads of other reason why you have a lump and experiencing pain I wish you luck with your appointment & wish you the best x

  • Thank you for your reply. I have a private appointment this evening and I havent been able to stop crying. I am absolutely terrified. I also feel my symptoms have got worse and I can feel my right arm more numb and tingling now too. I also am struggling to sleep with the burning sensation in my armpits and breast too. I can't even look at the doctor's referral letter for fear of what it says about the lump she has found. I am absolutely beside myself with worry and at the thought of my little tiny kids not having their mummy.

  • All I know is that there are far more benign lumps than cancerous I think it's about 8 out of 10 aren't cancerous I think the figure is. And Atleast your appointment is this evening rather than waiting weeks in worry stay strong for your children and hopefully after your appointment your mind will be put at ease I found when I found a lump these forums helped so much by just having someone to speak to I was worry sick also I wish you well & please do let me know after your appointment :)

  • I just wanted to let people know that the lump in my armpit turned out to be a reactive lymph node due to the corona virus vaccine. I didn't think of this at all as it had been weeks since I had it. Just incase anyone else might be experiencing similar. This experience has been very sobering and humbling for me...I am still impacted by the experience and feel so grateful for my health. I will be thinking of all you brave people fighting to get your health back. So much love admiration and respect to you all xx

  • That is great to hear ! Glad it is nothing to worry about:)

  • Hi, so glad it was all ok! I also have this after the covid vaccine. Do you still have yours? How many weeks has it been x
