Swollen Lymph Node

Hello

I had the AZ vaccine 10 weeks ago now. About a week after I noticed a lump in my armpit on the same side as the vaccine. The doctor has said she believes it is a swollen lymph node and I have been referred to the breast clinic next week. I have a family history of breast cancer in my father's side with relatives who were in their early 40s so I am a little concerned. I am 32.

Ive read swollen lymph nodes are a side effect of the vaccination but that they should go down within a week or so. Being 10 weeks in has made me anxious. The lump is about the size and shape of a kidney bean and I don't have any other kind of symptoms that I'm aware of. Has anyone else had swollen lymph nodes this long after the vaccination or had anything similar that has not turned out to be anything serious?

Thank you

  • Hi,

Yes it is the same for me, they say it has normal features but it feels quite large to me and definitely wasn't there before (although I cannot say for sure if it appeared after my jab as I had the jab early February and the GP actually found the node in April, I was told at one scan it measured 1.5cmx 0.5cm.

whst size was yours? And did they mention if they can stay enlarged permanently?

  • My last scan they said it was 9mmx5mm but normal features they didn't seem concerned by it I'm just worried that I can feel it still. They just said it looks reactive and can stay for a long time I just don't always feel reassured. I was seen at the breast clinic previously but they only examined breasts no scan. But they assured me it looks normal.

  • Sorry I've only just seen this!

My lump is still there, it will be a year at the end of February since I had the AZ.

I try not to think about it as it makes me anxious but that's easier said than done! I find at times it looks larger than others.

    Hope yours has gone down

  • Hi,

Mine is still there too (in armpit), i had the jab last Feb but the doctor found it in April during a routine apt....I had it scanned again a few weeks ago due to some other issues and still being told the same ie normal features, this time I got told it was about a centimetre (seems different every time), I mentioned I worried about it as it feels huge...he did say they can feel bigger as when we feel them there’s all sorts around them that we are feeling too.

  • Hi

I have lumps in my armpit for 7 months already , since my first Pfizer jab 02/06/21, I found the first lump 2 or 3 days after the vaccine was very painful  but after a week or so the pain gone but the lump stayed , I saw my GP and she told me I had 3 lumps.
I did my first scan in August ( 2 months later ) and the 3 lumps was about 2.4cm long , nothing in my breast .
Second scan in October and it was half the size but never went away.
yesterday I had my 3 vaccine , the booster and I'm so much in pain I can't describe it as my lumps got very swollen again
