Swollen Lymph Node

Hello

I had the AZ vaccine 10 weeks ago now. About a week after I noticed a lump in my armpit on the same side as the vaccine. The doctor has said she believes it is a swollen lymph node and I have been referred to the breast clinic next week. I have a family history of breast cancer in my father's side with relatives who were in their early 40s so I am a little concerned. I am 32.

Ive read swollen lymph nodes are a side effect of the vaccination but that they should go down within a week or so. Being 10 weeks in has made me anxious. The lump is about the size and shape of a kidney bean and I don't have any other kind of symptoms that I'm aware of. Has anyone else had swollen lymph nodes this long after the vaccination or had anything similar that has not turned out to be anything serious?

Thank you

  • I had another ultrasound and they took a biopsy. Results next Friday, maybe before. X

  • Was this in the breast clinic? Xx

  • Hi Beebeebee,

Mine is also on/just below my jawline, and also came up after the second jab (2 weeks after approx).
Had a scan, radiographer said it's a 'reactive' gland, very likely as a result of the jab.
He has seen others with gland swelling in the neck area also.

    Hoping all's well :)

    xx

  • Hi there,

    Sorry for late reply!

Yes, i get discomfort on & off.
For me it's a kind of tight, aching sensation which yes, can go down into my collar bone sometimes.

It's been really hard to tell what's 'real' and what was being caused by my anxiety attacks (stiff burning neck, tingling along my jaw and up the side of my face).
My doctor also said she thinks it's a reaction to anxiety.

This eased after the scan was done & Ok. But this last few days i'm getting those sensations back again. Could be anxiety, but i've never felt it here before all this happened.

Best wishes, hope you're all ok :) xx

  • Oh thanks so much for replying.

This is exactely what mine is like and also the anxiety too. I think mine is also getting made worse by anxiety. I saw my Dr and finally sending me for an ultrasound but I said I'd go private as they said the wait could be months and my anxiety wouldn't be able to cope waiting that long .lol

Yeah had a pulling feeling and also tightness around my neck throat and collarbone. My friends sister also had the same with the lymp node in neck same feelings as us. It does make you worry its made me worry and I'm a worrier at the best of times. I did read now its on the details for side effects for Pfizer vaccine now the neck lympnode.

Hope your feeling OK anxiety can come at any stage even if you haven't had it before I have had new symptoms from anxiety also xxxxx

  • I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. It’s ***! Xx
  • I have been diagnosed with breast cancer x

  • Hey Daisy,

    How are you doing?
Just to say i had to wait 20 days for my ultrasound scan, but he gave me the results then & there during the appointment.

I still have the same sensations, they come and go, and pop up in different parts of my neck (at the front, side or back). Initially was on the gland side, but now sometimes on the other side. Also along and below the collarbone.

'Pulling' feeling is exactly the word, i've struggled how to describe to my husband, but said it sometimes feels like all the tendons in my neck have been pulled tight.

Hope you're keeping on top of the anxiety, which makes it 10x worse <3
    xx

  • Oh goodness, that's a shock. Be strong my friend as it won't beat you. I'm waiting for a scan on my armpit lump at the moment xx

  • Hi Discotrout

I'm OK thanks hope your doing ok? I went private and had my scan in 7 days. They said they couldn't see anything there just muscle and saliva. Which I'm so happy about.

I have the exact same thing  that's how I would describe it also. Mines just on the left side and near my throat   my vaccine was on my left side also. Was yours painful when you had yours done. My first vaccine I was fine no pain the 2nd one was awful very very painful going in and very sore arm guessing I tensed up also from it. I remebr coming out saying to my partner they must have hit the bone it was that painful.

I wasn't sure weather to write it on the yellow card system. Dr has said its all muscular but may have to go back .

How is yours doing now? Are you still having the pulling feeling? I had my 2nd one 13 weeks ago.

Yeah anxiety is rubbish I need to get it nipped in the bud .

    Take care xxxx
