Advice

Hi ...

I have been having sore throat, swelling behind my rt ear and that side of the neck, change in my voice , hoarse and difficulty swallowing. I have been seen by my GP several times, blood test came back - normal, they thought it was an infection. I've had 3 different antibiotics and nothing had helped.
I had a benign tumour removed 20yrs ago in my salvia gland on that rt side of the neck.
I have seen my ENT consultant and had nasal endoscopy, which was normal, ultrasound was normal as well.
ENT consultant is following the cancer pathway .. given me two different antibiotics to take at once when I have completed and nothing has changed. Had mri scan this week with contrast...

im awaiting results and so scared .. this has been going on for 7 weeks now and nothing is helping and feeling all drained. Just want to know what it is ?
Could a tumour come back .. as had it 20yrs ago and it was Benign.
would like so advice and support as my mind is going over this and waiting is too much x

many thanks x

  • Hello Don40,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your results. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for these important results.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. Waiting is often described here as the hardest thing and I thought I would give you these tips to help you cope while waiting for important news.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
